Rules that matter
- Leash always. If you fall and the wind picks up, an unleashed board drifts faster than you swim.
- Reef-safe sunscreen enforced in protected zones (CONANP).
- No paddling at night — not allowed in Nichupté.
- Stay inside mangrove channels marked on the rental map; boat lanes are off-limits.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need prior SUP experience?
No — Nichupté is forgiving. Two hours with a basic briefing is enough to paddle the inner loop.
Are crocodiles a risk?
Nichupté has American crocodiles, but incidents with SUPers are extremely rare. Guides know which channels to avoid.
What wind is too much for SUP?
Over 15 knots, beginners should not launch. Operators will refuse to rent.
Can I bring children?
Yes, from 6+ on a tandem or separate smaller board. Lifejacket mandatory.
