Surf in Mexico — Lessons, Rentals & Wave Hunting

Surf lessons and board rentals at Mexico's best breaks. Warm 27 °C water year-round, friendly conditions for first-timers at Cancun\'s beach breaks, and proper swell for experienced surfers on the Pacific side during high season.

We coordinate group and private lessons around Playa Delfines and Playa Chac Mool in Cancun. Board, leash, rash guard and reef-safe sunscreen included in every session. Most beginners stand up in their first hour.

On request, we also arrange trips to classic Pacific breaks (Puerto Escondido, Sayulita) for intermediate and advanced surfers chasing bigger waves.

Why surf Mexico

Why Mexico is perfect for surf

Two coasts, endless waves, warm water — whether you're starting out or hunting overhead swells.

No wetsuit needed

Water 26–29 °C year-round. Board shorts + rash guard is all you need. Even the coldest morning is warmer than California in summer.

Beginner-friendly breaks

Cancun's beach breaks (Chac Mool, Delfines) have playful 1–3 ft waves most days. Easy whitewater to stand up on first try.

Pacific swell on request

Chase serious waves at Puerto Escondido or Sayulita — head-high to overhead in high season. We arrange full surf trips from Cancun.

ISA-certified coaches

Our instructors are ISA-certified, bilingual, and specialize in first-timers. Patience, positive reinforcement, real technique.

Group or private

Group class (max 4) or 1-on-1. Kids 7+, couples, families, solo travelers — we tailor the session.

Gear included

Soft-top boards for beginners, hard-tops for experienced surfers. Leashes, rash guards, sunscreen and a cold drink after.

Surf by destination

Cancun is our home break. Pacific coast trips on request. Other destinations launching 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cancun good for surfing?

Cancun has playful beach breaks (1–3 ft most days) great for learning. It's not the Pacific — if you're an advanced surfer looking for head-high waves, ask us about Puerto Escondido or Sayulita trips. For beginners, Cancun is perfect.

Do you teach beginners?

Yes — it's our specialty. Our instructors are ISA-certified and teach first-timers every day. Most students stand up and ride a wave in their first lesson. We start on the sand, then whitewater, then unbroken waves when you're ready.

What gear do I need to bring?

Nothing — board, leash, rash guard, reef-safe sunscreen and a bottled water are included. Just bring a swimsuit, towel and good attitude.

When is the best surf season?

Caribbean Cancun: small to medium waves most of the year, best September to November during hurricane swells (bigger, cleaner). Pacific side: April–October for serious swell. Summer (Jul–Oct) is peak.

Can kids learn to surf?

Yes. Minimum age is 7. Kids on soft-top boards learn fast — often faster than adults. We adapt board size and session length to kid fitness.

What if it's totally flat / no waves?

Cancun rarely goes completely flat, but on the smallest days we still get whitewater for beginners. If conditions are genuinely unworkable, we reschedule for the next wave window. No wave + not possible to surf = no charge.

Is it safe?

Yes — beach break lessons are as safe as surfing gets. Instructor in the water with you, soft-top boards (no hard fins), life-guarded beaches, no rocks or reef. Medical kit on site.

Can I just rent a board?

Yes, for intermediate+ surfers. Board, leash, rash guard included. Hard-tops 5'10" to 8'0". Minimum rental 2 hours.

Are your boards good?

Beginner soft-tops: 8–9 ft foam boards (easy to ride, safe for falls). Intermediate: 6'6"–7'6" funboards. Advanced: 5'10"–6'6" shortboards. All checked weekly and replaced every 1–2 seasons.

Do you do surf camps or multi-day packages?

Yes — ask about our 3-day, 5-day and 7-day Cancun surf camps. Progressive lessons, wave-reading theory, video review. Multi-day Pacific trips also available (Puerto Escondido, Sayulita).

Ready to surf or got questions?

Our Cancun team responds within 1 hour. Same-day lessons are welcome.
