About the Catalina 42ft (sail)
The Catalina 42ft is the only sailing yacht in the Progreso fleet — and at $9,999 MXN for a 6-hour charter, it\'s also one of the best values. Sailing is a very different experience from motor yachts: quieter (no engine hum), slower-paced (2–6 knots instead of 20), and deeply romantic at sunset when the sails fill with the evening breeze. The Catalina has a proper galley with plates, cups and cutlery — perfect for long, slow charters with food.

Frequently asked questions
Does sailing mean slower than a motor yacht?
Much slower. Sailing cruises at 2–6 knots depending on wind, versus 18–25 knots on motor yachts. That's the point — you're not rushing anywhere, you're enjoying the journey. If you need to cover distance, pick a motor yacht instead.
What happens if there's no wind on my Catalina charter?
The Catalina has a reliable auxiliary motor for when the wind dies or for leaving/entering the marina. You won't be stranded. A flat-calm day does change the experience though — we recommend sunset charters when the thermal breeze kicks in.
Can I help sail the Catalina 42ft?
Yes — most captains welcome guests who want to help hoist sails, trim lines, or take the helm for a while. Tell the captain at the start of the charter; it turns into a mini-sailing lesson if the group is interested.
Questions about the Catalina 42ft (sail)?
Our Yucatán team responds within 1 hour. We can also combine this charter with paddleboard, wave runner or a cenote day.
